Qantas has “plenty of fights on its hands”, according to Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood. “Including with grumpy shareholders – it will have to face them at that annual meeting very shortly,” said Mr Greenwood. Reportedly, the airline walked away from its ongoing battle with competition watchdog the ACCC on Thursday. Qantas dropped its $614 million takeover bid for the country’s largest fly-in-fly-out charter business, Alliance Aviation. The ACCC opposed the bid yet Qantas could have appealed but instead chose to walk away.
