Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the International Monetary Fund expects the global economy to “slow considerably” and Australians “won’t be immune” to it as he meets economic leaders in Washington, DC. “There still is a big challenge with core inflation here in particular,” he told Sky News Australia. “For all of us, whether it’s the US, Australia, all of the similar countries – inflation is more persistent than we’d like. “Clearly there’s been some jitters in global financial markets around the banks, the International Monetary Fund expects the global economy to slow considerably throughout this year. “We’ve got a lot coming at us around the world, but we’ve got a lot going for us as well.”
