Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley has labelled Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones’ comments about the Morrison government's spending as a “brazen, outright mistruth” after Australia maintained its AAA credit rating. Mr Jones on Wednesday gave the Morrison government “zero credit” for Australia's AAA credit rating, telling Sky News Australia that Labor inherited “an atrocious set of books”. Ms Ley said she was “quite bewildered” by Mr Jones’ comments. “So full marks for just a brazen, outright mistruth,” she told Sky News Australia. Ms Ley said the current government had “inherited the best set of numbers”. “If an international credit agency has renewed Australia’s AAA rating that means something, and you know that’s not political spin.”
