Unleaded petrol prices are set to rise well above two dollars a litre as the war in Ukraine causes a rise in oil prices. Global oil markets surged yesterday off the back of the United States’ move to ban imports of Russian oil. Over the last fortnight, the value of Brent crude oil has surged 30 per cent jumping from $US40 a barrel to $US170 a barrel. Business leaders are warning higher petrol prices will also drive increased prices for everyday essentials as transport companies pass on costs to consumers.
