Sky News host Rowan Dean says the cost of lithium has inevitably surged as governments "push incentives" for people who buy electric vehicles. "This is the key product that is needed for electric vehicles," Mr Dean said. "As more governments push incentives for people that buy electric vehicles, you see what has happened – inevitably the cost of lithium goes up." Mr Dean said lithium was also a "hugely toxic mineral" to mine and involves the "worst ecological processes" to do so. "But of course nobody cares about that because it's electric vehicles," he said.
