Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is under pressure from unions and Labor members to increase the 2035 emissions reduction target to be more in line with state goals. It comes after new Queensland Premier Steven Miles announced a goal to lower the state’s emissions by 75 per cent. The move has sparked calls for the federal government not to 'lag' the states in its 2035 target. New analysis shows however as few as 3 per cent of jobs at eight different renewable energy projects are filled. Unions claim more needs to be done to train more workers in the green sector and support the transition from fossil fuels to renewables.
