Small Business Women Australia Founder Amanda Rose has raised concerns about Victoria taxing people who operate an Airbnb. The tax will come in the form of a 7.5 per cent levy on short-stay accommodation. “I’ve never been a fan of taxing Airbnb’s,” Ms Rose told Sky News Australia. “To force a tax on them or to force to say well you’ve got space in your place for the week you should rent it out. "If that’s what they’re going to do then why aren’t they taxing hotels and why aren’t they saying to hotels, well why don’t you give your room to a family that needs it? “It’s demonising and penalising people that are actually putting their hard-earned money or worked hard to find an investment property.”
