Victoria's Shadow Tourism Minister Sam Groth fears costs from an additional tax on landlords with properties listed on short-term rental platforms would just be passed onto the consumer. The tax aims to ease the rental crisis in areas such as the Mornington Peninsula. Mr Groth said it would "not drive properties back to the long-term market" at a time when the tourism sector has been hard hit by the pandemic. "Another tax on the sector is only going to impact more broadly," he told Sky News Australia.
