The Australian Hotels Association will tour marginal seats such as Bass and Braddon this week arguing ahead of the federal budget for a cut to the excise tax in draught beer, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. Mr Clennell said the tax is due to have one of its twice annual CPI rises on Tuesday. "Every schooner bought costs 70 cents in terms of government tax – the AHA wants that halved in a bid to help pubs struggling in the wake of Australia's COVID summer," he said.
