Shadow Energy Minister Chris Bowen has reiterated four pillars which underpin Labor’s climate policies. "First that net zero by 2050 is an absolutely essential starting point, but it's not enough,” Mr Bowen said during a National Press Club address on Monday. “The drive to net zero must be accompanied by strong medium-term targets." He said secondly the targets must be accompanied by “substantial and well-designed policy measures”. "Third that good climate policy is good jobs policy and that should be reflected in the policy design,” Mr Bowen said. “And fourth that the regions which have powered Australia for so long must be at the centre of climate change policy going forward.”
