Council of Small Business Organisations Australia CEO Alexi Boyd says the situation "is dire" amid severe worker shortages across industries. It comes as small businesses are expected to take a hit after the emergence of the Omicron COVID variant. The Morrison government will also put a pause on reopening Australia’s international borders on December 1 amid global concerns over the spread of the new variant. "It's pretty devastating for small business," Ms Boyd told Sky News Australia. "We have severe worker shortages across all industries. "Our members are telling us that supply chain issues are also hitting them hard. "And so, hearing that there's a pause for these international workers is going to affect many small businesses out there across many different communities."
