Morning Report 1 Nov 21: US markets end at records despite elevated inflation readings

US sharemarkets advanced on Friday to new highs. The gains occurred despite falls in Apple (-1.8%) and Amazon (-2.2%) after the tech giants disappointed with earnings. The Dow Jones index rose by 89 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index gained 0.2%. And the Nasdaq index rose by 50 points or 0.3%. On the week the Dow rose 0.4%; the S&P 500 rose 1.3%; and the Nasdaq rose 2.7%. In October the Dow rose 5.8%; the S&P 500 rose 6.9%; and the Nasdaq rose 7.3%.
